Avani Avittam Special 1 - Ulundu vadai





Its a Tamil custom to make ulundu vadai (urad dhal vada) for any auspicious occasion or function.... so here iam making ulundu vadai... also known as medu vada for avani avittam...

the recipe goes this way....

You need :

Urad dhal - 1 cup
Green chillies - 2
Salt to taste
ginger - 1" piece (optional)
Oil to deep fry

Method:

Soak the urad dhal in water for nearly 2-3 hours. Now in a mixer jar add the urad dhal, green chillies, ginger piece, salt and blend well in the mixie... adding very less water.Dont make the batter watery.

Heat oil in a thick bottomed kadhai. Take the little batter in ur hand and make a small hole in the middle of the batter. Now put the batter in the heated oil and fry the vadas till golden brown in colour.




Serve hot with Coconut and mint chutney.
